The water flowing down North Creek in Zion National Park have been captured by this long crack in the floor of the canyon. Only 6" wide and 12" deep, the entire stream is forced into this narrow channel in a layer of Kayenta sandstone. In this photograph, a shutter speed of several seconds was used to blur the water as it raced through the slot. Zion National Park is truly an oasis in the desert with high-elevation mesas providing a constant flow of perennial water for Zions famous deep and narrow canyons. Most of these small streams join to form the Virgin River which eventually flows into the Colorado River just below the Grand Canyon. This panoramic photograph was captured with a 6x17 panorama format camera. All photos in these fine art photo galleries may be ordered as fine art framed prints or for stock photography usage.
