| Tasman Glacier, New Zealand. A mountaineer creates a silhouette on the Tasman Glacier below Mount Green in Mount Cook National Park on South Island, New Zealand. We had planned to spend a week climbing the peaks at the upper end of this 20 kilometer-long glacier but wave after wave of late spring storms swept in off the Tasman Sea with an endless round of 75mph winds and huge amounts of snow. Except for a couple brief pauses between waves, such as when this image was made, the entire week was spent hunkered down in the hut. |
