| Glacier National Park, British Columbia. Viewed from Abbott Ridge, the 10,818-foot pyramid-shaped summit of Mount Sir Donald dominates the skyline in Glacier National Park in the Columbia Mountains of Canada. Just out of frame to the right, the Illecilliwaet Glacier has receded more than a mile since it was first photographed in 1887. Located in the Selkirk Mountains west of Yoho National Park, the ice-clad peaks of Glacier National Park provide some of the most challenging high-alpine climbing routes in North America. The fabled Roger’s Pass highway cuts through the Selkirk Mountains just below these peaks as part of the Trans-Canada Highway. |
