Mount Assiniboine, Canadian Rockies. Two climbers take in the scene on the shores of Magog Lake below 11,871-foot Mount Assiniboine in Mount Assiniboine Provincial Park, Canada. The standard route up the peak lies along the right skyline and is punctuated with loose rocks and two crumbling cliff bands. Two days are required to backpack in the 25 kilometers to the base of the peak before beginning the accent. Magog Lake is floored in limestone and has no outlet since the water seeps into the bedrock faster than it can raise the level of the lake’s surface.
