| Mountaineering in New Zealand. Two mountaineers thread their way through the crevasses on Tasman Glacier in Mount Cook National Park on the South Island of New Zealand. I had planned to spend a week climbing the surrounding peaks with a couple Kiwi friends. Wave after wave of late spring storms swept in off the Tasman Sea with an endless round of 75mph winds and huge amounts of snow. Except for a couple brief pauses between waves, when I took this photo, we spent the entire week pinned down in the hut. |
