In this photograph, the clouds of an early-morning storm glow in the dawn light over the glacier-hued waters of Moraine Lake in Banff National Park. Surrounded by country where the spectacular is ordinary, Moraine Lake stands out as a jewel among jewels here in the Valley of the Ten Peaks. As summer temperatures melt a number of small glaciers in the mountains above this lake, glacier-pulverized rock adds silt to the streams which enter this lake, causing its water to take on a brilliant hue of turquoise. This vertical photograph was captured with a 6x7 format camera. All photos in these fine art photo galleries may be ordered as fine art framed prints or for stock photography usage.
