Located in the northeast corner of Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument, the small alcove in this photograph along Long Canyon has been visited by groups of Tibetan Buddhist monks clad in their traditional flowing maroon robes and golden sashes. As it turns out, the unique architecture of the alcove provides exceptional acoustic qualities for their traditional chants. While this small tributary canyon of the Escalante River may be a long way from Tibet, the nearby town of Boulder has hosted various groups of Buddhist monks during their visits to America over the last several years. This panoramic photograph was captured with a 6x17 panorama format camera. All photos in these fine art photo galleries may be ordered as fine art framed prints or for stock photography usage.
