These twisting narrows along Twilight Canyon are 110 feet below the high-water mark of Lake Powell. Before they were revealed by the drought which nearly emptied the reservoir in 2005, they were buried beneath a reservoir sediment layer 20 feet deep. As the reservoir level dropped due to the drought, this accumulated sediment was scoured out of these narrows by flash floods, all the way down to the original streambed, thus restoring the pre-reservoir conditions found here.
