This streambed along Seven Mile Canyon is at a location 50 feet below the high-water mark of Lake Powell. Befoer the recent drought began in the year 2000, it was smothered beneath 15 feet of reservoir sediment. Native plants quickly reclaimed the streambed in this well-watered canyon once the waters of the reservoir receded down canyon due to the severe drought. Faint remnants of the reservoir's white "bathtub ring" can be seen staining the rocks just above the center of the image. Other than this faint remnant, it is impossible to tell that this streambed was buried beneath the waters of the reservoir for the last 40 years. Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, Utah.
