Black & white photograph of Elves Chasm in Grand Canyon. Located just above the point where it enters the Colorado River, Royal Arch Creek has carved this deep grotto into the limestone formations at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. A favorite rest stop for parties floating the Colorado River, the pool at the base of this small perennial waterfall provides a cool escape from the blazing temperatures out in the main canyon. Giving this small canyon its name, Royal Arch is located less than one mile upstream from here but is not accessible by traveling up the canyon due to high limestone waterfalls above. It is possible to visit this arch either by rappelling down the canyon from above or by climbing the canyon walls along the main Colorado just upstream of here. This black & white vertical photograph was captured with a 6x7 format camera. All photos in these fine art photo galleries may be ordered as fine art black & white framed prints or for B&W stock photography usage.
