Photograph of autumn maple tree trunks, Utah. The lower-elevation forests of the Wasatch Mountains are not dominated by the vast groves of aspen trees found higher in the mountains. Here at the 6,000-foot level in Millcreek Canyon, the dominant trees are the Rocky Mountain Maple, with its bright red leaves come autumn, and the Box Elder which turns bright yellow. This palette of colors resembles more the hardwood forests found in the eastern half of the U.S. as opposed to the monochromatic yellow groves of aspen which the mountain west is best known for. This horizontal photograph was captured with a 6x7 format camera. All photos in these fine art photo galleries may be ordered as fine art framed prints or for stock photography usage.
