Located high in the Wasatch Mountains of Big Cottonwood Canyon southeast of Salt Lake City, 10,400-foot Kessler Peak rises above snow-frosted trees after a late-winter storm. The valleys surrounding this peak were buried beneath deep Pleistocene glaciers until as recently as 12,000 years ago. One of two major streams which supply water to the Salt Lake Valley, Big Cottonwood creek gathers its waters from melting snows here as it flows downcanyon into the Salt Lake Valley and eventually into Great Salt Lake. This panoramic photograph was captured with a 6x17 panorama format camera. All photos in these fine art photo galleries may be ordered as fine art framed prints or for stock photography usage.
