| Russell Fiord, Alaska. Icebergs litter the shore of Russell Fiord in southeast Alaska while the 400 foot high face of Hubbard Glacier looms in the distance. I made this photo during a week-long kayaking trip in Russell Fiord. We spent two days camped across from Hubbard Glacier just to witness its fantastic display calving icebergs into the fiord. Every time a skyscraper-sized chunk of ice broke off the face of the glacier, it sounded like artillery fire and four to five foot waves would wash up on our shore. |
