Escalante Canyons, Utah. The Entrada sandstone in Devil's Garden of Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument has eroded into an assortment of fantastic shapes including the sweeping form of Metate Arch. Located just off Hole in the Rock Road near the Escalante Canyons region of southern Utah, this area holds some of the most beautiful redrock country on the Colorado Plateau. Entrada Sandstone is perhaps most famous where it forms the arches in Arches National Park. Where it is exposed here along the base of Fifty-Mile mountain, alcoves and hollows are much more common than arches. All photos in these galleries may be ordered as fine art framed prints or for stock photography usage.
