North Creek, Zion National Park, Utah    ID# 617-UT-ZN-29-BW

Zion National Park, Utah. The waters of North Creek in Zion National Park have been captured by this long crack in the floor of the canyon. Only 6" wide and 12" deep, the entire stream is forced into this narrow channel in a layer of Kayenta sandstone and continues to cut deeper into the sandstone. A shutter speed of several seconds was used to blur the water as it raced through the slot. Zion National Park is truly an oasis in the desert with high-elevation mesas providing a constant flow of perennial water for Zion’s famous deep and narrow canyons. Most of these small streams join to form the Virgin River which eventually enters the upper reaches of Lake Mead below the Grand Canyon. All photos in these galleries may be ordered as fine art framed prints or for stock photography usage.
