| San Juan Mountains, Colorado. Aptly-named 13,627' White Dome Peak rises above the headwaters of Elk Creek in the Weminuche Wilderness in the San Juan Mountains of southwest Colorado. At 401,600 acres, the Weminuche ranks as Colorado's largest congressionally-designated wilderness area and contains some of the most rugged and wild mountain terrain in the American West.
