| North Twilight Peak, Colorado. The Weminuche Wilderness was named after a small group of Ute Indians who once inhabited this region of mountains in southwest Colorado. At 401,600 acres, this congressionally-designated wilderness ranks as Colorado's largest and contains some of the most rugged and wild mountain terrain in the American West. While impressive in its own right, 13,075-foot North Twilight Peak; seen here reflected in a small glacial tarn, is dwarfed by several 14,000 foot peaks immediately to the east.
