Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming    ID# 617-WY-TE-32-BW

Grand Teton Range, Wyoming. An early-June sunrise illuminates the high peaks of the Teton Range in northwestern Wyoming. This scene from the Snake River overlook is one of the iconic vistas of the American West. The still-active Teton fault lies at the foot of the range and continues to thrust these jagged peaks higher and higher into the Wyoming sky. Various river benches can be seen across the river indicating the various courses of the river over the last 10,000 years since the last of the great ice sheets of the Yellowstone Plateau melted to the north. Vast quantities of icy meltwater flooded this valley and carved this shallow river canyon through deep layers of glacial debris. All photos in these galleries may be ordered as fine art framed prints or for stock photography usage.
