| Autumn Swirls, Zion National Park. As Loren Eiseley so succinctly put it, "If there is magic on this planet, it is contained in water." In the windswept deserts and deep canyons of southern Utah, this statement becomes all the more poignant. Beneath the sheer sandstone cliffs along Zion Canyon in southwest Utah, an example of this magical effect was created when a layer of recently-shed autumn leaves trapped on the surface of a swirling pool of water produced a pinwheel of color with the aid of a 60-second time exposure.
