| Aspen leaves, Colorado. By the last week of September, this small pool of water along Last Dollar Mountain west of the town of Telluride was carpeted with a fresh layer of yellow aspen and a few red maple leaves. Few if any locations in the West can compete with the Colorado Rockies when it comes to brilliant displays of autumn color and few places in the Colorado Rockies can compete with the displays found in the San Juan Mountains.
