| Valley of a Thousand Falls, Mount Robson. As the monarch of the Canadian Rockies, 12,973 foot Mount Robson is rarely visible due to the ever-present clouds which swirl around its summit ridge. The prevailing winds cause these clouds to drop prodigious amounts of precipitation which in turn creates hundreds of waterfalls especially here in the Valley of a Thousand Falls. The indigenous Shuswap people originally called Robson Yui-Hai-Has-Kun - "The Mountain of the Spiral Road" - probably due to the way the Robson Glacier spirals around the north and west sides of the mountain. The Robson River flows turquoise green in the foreground with its heavy load of glacial silt and contributes its waters as one of the main upper tributaries of Canada's mighty Fraser River.
