| Mount Timpanogos, Utah. Snow blankets the upper slopes of Primrose Cirque on Mount Timpanogos in this view from the Alpine Loop Road in the Wasatch Mountains of Northern Utah. A pointed spur ridge just off the main peak reaches 11,722 feet into the sky high above these aspen-covered slopes at 8,000 feet. During dry warm, years, these aspen usually give up the battle and drop their drab-brown leaves by the end of September. This year provided more moisture than usual and this display of color lasted well into October as the first snows of winter dusted the peaks.
