| Mount Wilson, Telluride, Colorado. For those trying to climb all of Colorado's 14,000-foot peaks, the Wilson Group, which contains the summits of Wilson Peak, Mount Wilson and El Diente, is known as one of the most difficult. Wilson Peak forms the 14,017 foot apex of the northern ridge of this mountain group and dominates the view from the town of Telluride, just 13 miles to the northeast. While this small town is surrounded by spectacular mountain scenery in its glacier-carved box canyon at 9,000 feet, Wilson Peak has become the one trademark mountain in this area and, along with the Maroon Bells, all of Colorado.
