Sunset over the Teton Mountains, Wyoming    ID# 617-WY-TE-40

Grand Teton National Park. The vast Snake River plain lies just west of these mountains and provides an unobstructed path for the setting sun to illuminate the clouds above the Teton Range. At 13,770 feet, Grand Teton forms the crest of the range with Mount Owens to the right and Middle Teton to the left. All that remains of the Teton Glacier can be seen just below the notch to the right of Grand Teton. This glacier is not a remnant of the massive Pleistocene glaciers which covered this region but the remains of a much more recent advance during a period of a cool global temperatures known as the little ice age which ended around 1850. One of the 50 classic climbs of North America, thousands of climbers test their abilities on Grand Teton every year. All photos in these galleries may be ordered as fine art framed prints or for stock photography usage.
