Ancient Pictographs, Utah. Protected from the elements by a small overhang, these Barrier Canyon style pictographs are remarkably well preserved considering they were most likely applied to the rock several thousand years ago. While we can only speculate as to their meaning, the close resemblance of the four round circles to a comet with a tail would suggest to me that perhaps it depicts a shaman holding a snake in an attempt to ward off danger during a fly-by of Halley's comet thousands of years ago. What do you think? Your guess is as good as mine. Unfortunately, the figure to the left is being slowly obliterated by a small flow of water which drips down the face of the overhang during wet periods. At this rate, there may not be much left to see in another thousand years or so. All photos in these galleries may be ordered as fine art framed prints or for stock photography usage.
