Anasazi Ruin, San Juan County, Utah
ID# 617-RU-18

Ancient Ruins, Utah. Located deep in White Canyon on Cedar Mesa in southern Utah, this ancient ruin is highlighted by the vivid water streak on the canyon wall above it. Cedar Mesa plateau was inhabited by a large population of pre-Columbian peoples who inhabited this region during Europe’s Dark Ages. Countless well-preserved ruins and rock art panels can be found in the myriad of canyons which dissect the surface of this high mesa south of Canyonlands National Park. Photographs of this ruin taken only 10 years ago reveal that the wall of the ruin was essentially intact at that time. Apparently, some visitors to this site felt compelled to climb into the ruin, inadvertently loosening rocks from its walls with their hands. Six small anthropomorphic figures are visible on the rear wall of this small structure which was probably last used around 1300AD. All photos in these galleries may be ordered as fine art framed prints or for stock photography usage.
