Pictographs, Utah    ID# 617-PIC-4

Pictographs, San Juan County, Utah. If you look carefully, you can see that these late Anasazi shield pictographs were created on top of faded Barrier Canyon style artwork. Some have suggested that these figures represent turtles. The long line of white splotches was most likely created by the artist filling his/her mouth with white pigment and spitting it onto the rock. Located under a protective overhang on a north facing cliff in the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park, this site is well protected from the elements and is in quite good condition. All photos in these galleries may be ordered as fine art framed prints or for stock photography usage.
