| Grand Falls, Arizona. With its headwaters high on the side of 11,403-foot Mount Baldy in the White Mountains of eastern Arizona, the Little Colorado River eventually flows into the Colorado River in Grand Canyon National Park. Higher than Niagara Falls, Grand Falls plunges 185 feet and was created when lava from a nearby eruption poured down into the canyon approximately 100,000 years ago and blocked the river's course causing the water to seek a new path around the lava dam until it found a way back down into its original canyon; forming this waterfall in the process.
