| Grand Canyon, Arizona. The last rays of light illuminate blocks of Esplanade sandstone at Toroweap Overlook in Grand Canyon National Park. Sitting at an elevation of 4500 feet above sea level, Toroweap Point floats nearly 3,000 feet above the Colorado River and Lava Falls Rapid viewed just downstream in this image. One of the huge lava flows described in image # 67-AZ-GRC-125 can be seen at right center where it poured down into the canyon and dammed the Colorado River. Remnants of this lava dam still cling to the wall across the canyon more than 1,000 feet above the river.
