Sunrise on Vermilion Cliffs, Arizona    ID# 617-AZ-EP-2

Vermilion Cliffs, Arizona. First light illuminates the one thousand foot- tall Vermilion Cliffs on the horizon west of Page, Arizona. In the foreground, beehive-shaped Navajo Sandstone formations fill the high mesa here on the Navajo Nation of northern Arizona. Out of view, deep in the gorge of Glen Canyon, the Colorado River flows along the base of the Vermilion Cliffs as it enters Marble Canyon in Grand Canyon National Park. It was here on the Navajo Nation that Navajo Sandstone was first identified and named. Vast outcrops of this beautifully-sculpted sandstone can be found all across the Colorado Plateau region of southern Utah and northern Arizona. All photos in these galleries may be ordered as fine art framed prints or for stock photography usage.
