Kayenta Falls, Zion National Park, Utah. More so than any other National Park in Utah, Zion is an oasis in the desert. While the lower elevations of the park receive scant rainfall each year, the uplands of the high mesas north of the park receive ample snow and rainfall each year which melts and percolates down through porous sandstone layers to create springs throughout the deep canyons. In this image, a 100-foot thick layer of Kayenta sandstone has been sculpted by flowing water over the ages to create a beautiful series of cascading waterfalls and pools. All photos in these galleries may be ordered as fine art framed prints or for stock photography usage.
