Trachyte Creek, Utah. The waters of Trachyte Creek originate high on the flanks of 10,000-foot high Mount Hillers in the Henry Mountains of southern Utah. As the last “discovered” mountain range in the west, the five summits of the Henrys tower above the dry desert of the Colorado Plateau and scrape moisture from the high-level winds passing over this region during the winter months. Over the ages these melting snows, along with summer monsoon rains, have carved a network of short canyons into the relatively soft layer of Navajo Sandstone which lies along the eastern side of these mountains. All photos in these galleries may be ordered as fine art framed prints or for stock photography usage.
