Paria Canyons, Utah. The 89,400 acre Vermilion Cliffs-Paria Canyon Wilderness area extends across both sides of the Utah/Arizona border. An anomaly in Utah, designated BLM wilderness areas such as this are virtually non-existent. Due to the adjacent location of these lands to Arizona's Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness to the south, Utah's BLM recommended this area as wilderness when Arizona established its Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness many years ago. While Arizona has over 4.5 million acres of established wilderness areas (much of it on BLM land), the total BLM wilderness acreage in Utah amounts to this 23,000 acre parcel and the 3,630 acre Beaver Dam Mountains Wilderness near Saint George. All photos in these galleries may be ordered as fine art framed prints or for stock photography usage.
