Long Canyon, Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument, Utah    ID# 617-UT-EC-8

Escalante Canyons, Utah. Located in the northeast corner of Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument, this small alcove along Long Canyon has been visited by groups of Tibetan Buddhist monks clad in their traditional flowing maroon robes and golden sashes. As it turns out, the unique architecture of the alcove provides exceptional acoustic qualities for their traditional chants. While this small tributary canyon of the Escalante River may be a long way from Tibet, the nearby town of Boulder has hosted various groups of Buddhist monks during their visits to America over the last several years. All photos in these galleries may be ordered as fine art framed prints or for stock photography usage.
