Maligne Lake, Jasper National Park, Canada. This deep, 22-km long lake zigzags its way deep into the Rocky Mountains of Jasper National Park in the Canadian province of Alberta. South of the Samson Narrows shown here, the lake is restricted to battery-powered electric motors thus providing miles of quiet paddling beneath the towering Elizabeth Range. The town of Jasper, located 30 km to the northwest, lies at the northern terminus of the 200-km long Icefields Parkway.
