Jackson Lake, Grand Teton Park, Wyoming. Mount Moran rises out of the calm waters of Jackson Lake in Grand Teton National Park. A fisheye lens was used to capture this photograph of a kayaker gliding through the oily-smooth waters out in the middle of the lake. Two hours after this image was made, the entire lake was swept by 3-foot whitecaps generated by a thunderstorm over the Yellowstone Plateau to the north. The waters of the Snake River pause briefly in Jackson Lake before continuing their journey to the Pacific Ocean via the Columbia River.
