| Yoho National Park, Canada. The President Range provides a dramatic backdrop for an afternoon paddle on Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park in British Columbia. The waters of this lake take on a cerulean hue in summer as the meltwater from glaciers along the crest of the Continental Divide flows into the lake with its burden of ground-up glacial silt. Suspended in the water of the lake, this milky solution absorbs the light at the short end of the visible-light spectrum causing the water to appear blue green. Located just west of the Continental Divide and Banff National Park, Yoho Park is home to Takakka Falls and the Yoho Glacier which flows down the valley just east of here. The Iceline Trail provides access to the glacier-studded terrain just south of Emerald Lake. |
