Early-morning light illuminates sandstone monoliths of Entrada Sandstone in this photograph above Courthouse Wash in Arches National Park in southern Utah. Pools of water from recent rains fill small depressions in the Navajo Sandstone layer which just underlies the Entrada Sandstone. In the northern reaches of the park, this same Entrada layer forms the giant sandstone arches which give the park its name. Located on the northern side of the Colorado River north of Moab, Arches National Park is home to the highest concentration of natural arches found anywhere in the world. This horizontal photograph was captured using a 6x7 format camera. All photos in these fine art photo galleries may be ordered as fine art framed prints or for stock photography usage.
