Photograph of the Colorado River from Dutton Point. This view into the Grand Canyon offers one of the few opportunities to actually get a glimpse of the Colorado River from the rim of this vast canyon. Named after a member of the late 19th century exploratory party of John Wesley Powell, this promontory juts far out into the canyon from the north rim. Topping out at an elevation over 9,000 feet, the Kaibab Plateau of the Grand Canyon continues to rise higher into the Arizona sky as the geologic forces which created this canyon continue to exert their forces deep within the earths crust. This horizontal photograph was captured with a 6x7 format camera. All photos in these fine art photo galleries may be ordered as fine art framed prints or for stock photography usage.
