Autumn-hued cottonwood trees fill the Fremont River Valley a few miles east of Capitol Reef National Park. Hidden among the trees, the river originates on 11,000-foot high Fish Lake Plateau west of here before flowing southeast to carve magnificent sandstone canyons through the Waterpocket Fold within the Park. As the river exits the Fold, it enters these colorful badlands of the 140-million year old Morrison Formation. This panoramic photograph was captured with a Fuji GX 617 panorama camera. All photos in these galleries may be ordered as fine art framed prints or for stock photography usage.
