Perhaps the most beautiful example of water-sculpted stone anywhere on Earth, the Navajo sandstone walls of Antelope Canyon have taken on the swirling, undulating appearance of the flowing water which has sculpted them over the ages. Bathed in warm reflected sunlight, these sensuous curves continually change their moods as the sun wheels overhead. With our limited grasp of deep time, it is difficult for us to comprehend even the tiny amount of geologic time required to cut this canyon no less the 190 million years which have elapsed since this sandstone was deposited in a vast sea of shifting sand reminiscent of todays Sahara. This photograph of Anetelope Canyon was made on the Navajo Nation of northern Arizona. All photos in these galleries may be ordered as fine art framed prints or for stock photography usage.
